Jet…all Set!

What do you get when you put together an unconventional group of Italian designers and engineers?  The answer is – the Jet Capsule.  A mere concept five years ago, the cute little bubble-on-water finally had her global reveal at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

Different from anything else in the market (just from looking at it, that much is clear) this innovative Jet Capsule measures just 7.5 metres (24’6”) long by 3.5 metres wide (11’5”) and is billed as a fully customisable product.  Depending on the clients’ needs it can be anything from an “emergency capsule” (a water ambulance) to a “jet taxi” (six to nine passenger seats) and from an “armoured capsule” (think reinforced steel, bulletproof glass and a nice camo-coating) to a “party capsule” with DJ booth, big subwoofers and a wakeboard tower.

In essence, anything goes.  If you want a live-aboard Jet Capsule, these unconventional Italians will pop in convertible sofa-beds, a toilet and a kitchenette and rear automatic closing doors.  If sunshine is important, they’ll create a rooftop flybridge-style sunbathing platform for two and, if you want to take her diving, they’ll customise space to stow all the breathing gear and wetsuits.  Serious use or just for fun – the Jet Capsule is at your service.

Driven by the latest generation hydrojet system, the Jet Capsule can be fitted with one or two engines – petrol or diesel – from 315hp to 740hp, dependent on expected use.  All boats are constructed with international warranty covered components and 24/7/365 assistance/support is on hand.

Built with a fibreglass hull, the Jet Capsule has international sail certification (CE and RINA) and can navigate waters in any country or region and cope with waves up to four metres in height.  It looks particularly nifty at night as its interior and exterior lights are designed to make it appear to be a mini UFO hovering on the water – cosmic baby.

And, for a real feel good factor, Jet Capsule is going against the current downturn in Italy’s nautical industry and actually expanding.  It believes it is the only new nautical start-up in Italy in 2012 and employs 30 workers at its Naples shipyard HQ.  Buona fortuna Jet Capsule.

The starting retail price for the Jet Capsule ranges from 150,000 euros for the base model (370hp) up to 255,000 euros for a VIP configuration.  Delivery time is approximately four months from order.
