S330 – Sealine’s New Baby

UK-based Sealine International has just launched the highly anticipated S330, the baby of its range.

The S330 is the second new model to be released following the acquisition of this quintessential British yacht company by Germany-based HanseGroup in September 2013.

Reviewers were eager to try out the larger F380 when it was launched in March to see how the new owners would handle the Sealine brand and, judging by its success, they handled it very well indeed.

HanseGroup is the world’s second largest manufacturer of sailing yachts with brands including Hanse, Dehler, Moody, Fjord and Varianta.

With the new parent company comes a new designer, Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design, who has been designing for the UK-based Moody Yachts since 1981.

Moody was acquired by HanseGroup in 2007, and they are obviously very happy with Bill as they brought him onboard to design their all-new S330.

Dixon Yacht Design has “yachts in build on five of the world’s seven continents. That only leaves two and very few people live on either of them”.

Commenting on the new appointment, Dr Jens Gerhardt, CEO of HanseYachts, said, “Sealine has always been considered a boater’s boat and this will remain at the core of our new designs. We are thrilled to have Bill as part of our team.”

The smallest Sealine, the S330 Sports Cruiser has a distinctive, sporty design and an amazing amount of space below deck. The Sealine slogan is “Enjoy the light, feel the space”, and they’ve certainly ensured that you will do just that if you’re lucky enough to purchase an S330.

Below deck feels extremely roomy and is bathed in sunshine from two skylights and the big hull windows, including a massive 11 foot (3.4 metre) starboard window.

But it’s not just an illusion of space, the S330 sleeps four in two full-sized double cabins, which is a real achievement on a 33 foot (10 metre) boat, and nets her the biggest berths in her category.

There is a light airy v-berth twin with an infill cushion, forward lit by large starboard windows, and a double berth aft with a large portside window. The forward cabin can be left either open to the saloon or sectioned off with a door to increase privacy.

She also has the best headroom in the sport boat category – from 1.87 to 1.95 metres (6.1 to 6.4 feet).

There’s also space aplenty up on deck. The S330 comfortably seats nine people in the cockpit and has two sunpads for relaxing, one forward and one aft, so there’s no need to feel that anyone is cramping your style.

She comes with three engine options, all Volvo Penta engines with Duoprop propellers. A single Volvo Penta D6-330 Duoprop Sterndrive is fitted as standard giving a max speed of 28 knots whereas, with the beefiest of the two dual engine options, twin D3-220s provide an impressive 34 knot max speed.

Parent company HanseGroup is well known for its vast array of options for exterior and interior and they have bought this ‘configurator’ to the Sealine S330 with wide choices of colours and materials for floors, decks and upholstery.

The hull and waterline can be painted in almost every colour of the Alexseal Yacht Coating Selection, so be prepared to see a few ‘Super Jet Black’ or ‘Vivid Red’ vessels rocking the status quo.

In total there are a staggering 102,516 combinations between colour card and option list.

So, if you enjoy a life on the ocean wave and like to be able to stand tall in the cabin and stretch out in a proper double bed, then pop down to your local dealer and start thumbing through those paint brochures… the Sealine S330 will be a boat that is uniquely yours.
