World Debut for Pearl 65

2_1We can’t believe it’s almost two years since we were sipping champagne aboard the Pearl 75, the then flagship of Stratford-Upon-Avon-based Pearl Motor Yachts’ fleet.

One of the most understated tasteful interiors we’d had the pleasure of lounging in, she was the handiwork of designer to the stars, Kelly Hoppen MBE, and fused together eastern principles of simplicity and balance with western taste for sumptuous textures and luxurious finishes.

Fast forward two years to the Cannes Boat Show 2014 and it was the world debut for the Bill Dixon-designed and Kelly Hoppen-styled Pearl 65, a little sister for the 75.

Showcasing Kelly’s effortless, calm, elegant colour-neutral style, the Pearl 65 packs a great deal into her 20 metre length with four cabins and accommodation for two crew. She also boasts a unique open-plan inside-outside saloon for easy everyday use and al-fresco dining.

In good company with the 75, the 65 has pod-drive propulsion coupled with joystick-controlled technology making it easy to manoeuvre and berth without the aid of crew – should you wish to sail your ship alone. Other standard features include a hydraulic bathing platform and passerelle and air conditioning throughout.

Building on the success of the 75, a yacht that within its first year of launch won best Motor Yacht under 25 metres at the 2013 International Yacht & Aviation Awards, Pearl Motor Yacht’s Managing Director, Iain Smallridge, has equally high hopes for the 65.

“The launch of the Pearl 75 exceeded all of our expectations, we were overwhelmed by the response we received – thanks to the unique elements both Bill Dixon and Kelly Hoppen bring to the Pearl range, and their drive for pioneering design excellence.

This partnership has provided our customers with something that is totally unique – and has created a great deal of anticipation surrounding the launch of the Pearl 65. With its elegantly appointed design coupled with technological innovation, the all-new Pearl 65 promises to be another ground-breaking vessel.”

Powered by triple Cummins Zeus 600hp, Twin Volvo IPS 800hp engines or twin Volvo D13 shaft drive, the yacht will reach a top speed of 32 knots and has a cruising range of 350 nautical miles.

We trust our invitation to sip champagne aboard the 65 is somewhere in the post, after all, it would be rude to break with tradition…
